List of Ministries

Youth Ministries

The Morris Street Baptist Church (MSBC) Youth Ministry provides nurture (babies and toddlers) and religious education (4 years – 18 year olds) for children and adolescents. The Youth Ministry’s goal is to REACH the MSBC youth with the good news of Jesus Christ, to CONNECT them with other Christians, to lead them to GROW in their faith, and to challenge them to actively SERVE and LOVE God with their whole lives. The Youth Ministry program offers opportunities for fellowship, service, fun, mission, and spiritual growth. The Youth Ministry encourages and equips youth to impact their world through knowing Christ.

Children’s Nursery

Church members provide care, nurture and creative Christian activities for toddlers during Sunday School and morning church services. All MSBC members and visitors are welcome to use the nursery services.

The Nursery is open every Sunday.

Junior Church

Children lead and participate in worship services with spiritual messages that teach the good news of Jesus Christ and His love. Biblical themes are presented and explored through spiritual teaching, dramatic interpretations, readings, verse recitations, and discussions. Youth are encouraged to take leadership roles in the Junior Church programs so they learn how to conduct services and can support each other in their spiritual development.

Junior Church is 11:00 AM on third Sundays in the Lower Church .

Youth Sunday

The young members of the church provide the leadership for the worship service. They fulfill all the significant service roles as a way of serving the Church membership, glorifying the Lord, and experiencing the significance and responsibility of worship leadership.

Youth Sunday is the fourth Sunday of each month.

Youth Choir

The youth are encouraged to participate in the Youth Choir which provides music once a month for the regular worship service and for Junior Church. Young people learn and perform songs that express God’s goodness and the blessings of Christianity.

Youth choir sings the fourth Sunday of each month.

Sunday School Classes

The MSBC Sunday School Program includes classes for youth from 3 – 18 years of age. The National Baptist Church Sunday School curriculum is followed and learning materials are provided. Sunday School provides an opportunity for youth to be taught Christian principals, nurtured in their spiritual development, and guided in their walk with Christ.

Sunday School classes meet each Sunday at 9:30 AM.

Drama Program

The MSBC Drama Program provides opportunities for church youth to participate in dramatic and interpretive projects for Christmas, Easter, Black History Month and other occasions. Youth are encouraged to develop their creative skills and exhibit their talents and abilities through portrayal of religious and historical themes.

Meetings with the Pastor

The youth have regularly scheduled meetings with Rev. Griffin to discuss religious and biblical topics as well as secular topics and other issues that are relevant to their spiritual development.
